My Experience and Style
While working my way from technical expert to program manager, I honed the ability to present complex topics to broad audiences - from highly detailed technical discussions with industry experts to education and outreach for school children, and every step in between. I bring a life-long enthusiasm for the visual arts and a love of storytelling to technical presentations, making them more engaging, memorable, and approachable for a wide audience.
How I Work with Clients
Presenting well is a learned skill, not an innate talent, and with practice it can become something that sets you apart. We will work together to build your confidence and a signature style for your technical presentations. We spend as much time as you need with the basics of presenting with confidence and the how-to’s of building a slide deck, but my goal is to move you towards setting a strategy for each presentation, tailoring your message for your audience, crafting engaging storylines from your technical topics, and creating visuals that make your data as accessible and as memorable as possible. Our goal is to get you to a place where doing all of this, in a way that feels authentic for you, becomes second nature.
Why Coaching
There are many reasons that coaching might be the right answer. I get you on the right track and then become your support system when you need it. Anything from a quick tune-up, to a second set of eyes, to developing a new presentation from scratch. Do any of these feel familiar?
You have a topic and data, but don’t know where to start on presenting it.
You have a start on a presentation package but feel stuck or lack confidence in what you have.
You have an existing package but need to rework it for a new audience.
Your last presentation fell flat, and you are not sure why.
You notice people tend to tilt their heads and look confused when they see your data.
If any of these feel familiar, or you just want to build confidence, some one-on-one coaching can help.
Team Training
Crisp and engaging presentations not only boost the confidence of team members, they make meetings more efficient and ease decision making. Team training courses will combine public speaking exercises, concepts and best practices for visual presentation of information and data, and short sessions of practice and feedback. Exercises work best in groups or pairs, so a minimum class size of 6 is ideal.
